RLI alumni represent a wide range of academic disciplines. Science, health, and engineering are the most common academic backgrounds, while faculty from many other fields are also represented.

Leadership growth beyond academic rank

Since completing RLI, alumni have advanced through academic promotion and leadership roles across the university.

Many have become Associate Professors, Professors, Department Heads, Center Directors, Vice Deans, and Program Directors, while others have expanded their leadership through research, education, and service.

Investing in faculty at the right career stage

RLI reaches faculty at a critical career stage, supporting a balance of early- and mid-career scholars who are well positioned to expand research, mentor colleagues, and strengthen institutional leadership.

Representation across cohorts

Each RLI cohort is intentionally balanced to bring together faculty with different perspectives, career experiences, and research backgrounds.

  • Women represent 55% of all alumni.
  • Men represent 45%.
  • Every cohort includes faculty from multiple colleges and disciplines, reinforcing RLI’s interdisciplinary mission.

The lasting impact of RLI

Nearly every participant continues to contribute to the University of Arizona after completing the program. 96 of the 98 alumni remain at the university, demonstrating the lasting value of investing in faculty leadership and strengthening connections across colleges, departments, and research communities.
